Take it slow.

For whatever reason you want to fast, you should start slowly. You would also have to make sure that you are eating a properly balanced and nutritious meals.

Being a muslim, I fast during the month of Ramadhan (which is coming in 3 weeks time). This is how I normally do it:

Fasting time : From the break of dawn to dusk or easy say, during the day (for about up to 14 hrs)

Pre-fasting meal/early breakfast (Sahur): Usually taken very early in the morning at around 4am-5am. No later than the 'Imsak' time which is normally around 5.30am. Then the fasting starts. Physically - no food, no drink. Emotionally/Spiritually - Refrain and contain your senses/yourself from worldy desires.

Breaking Fast: Will happen as the 'Azan' for Maghrib prayers sounds (normally at dusk, around 7pm). Encouraged to break fast with something sweet (preferably dates), perform the Maghrib prayers first then only then continue to enjoy your meal. This is because sometimes, you tend to get lazy once you stomach is too full hence, forgoing the Maghrib prayers.

As a start, you can probably try doing it by skipping lunch or for a small number of hours a day and gradually increasing it to the desired number of hours. I started practicing for this at a very young age for justa couple of hours at a time so when I reach puberty and it is a must for me to fast during Ramadhan, I am used to it.

All the best!

See this site with quotes by 11 MDs about fasting. I am an expert on fasting and never heard of dry fasting. If it is without any water, it is as stupid as bobbing for french fries. No MDs would allow it. It would hinder cleansing before killing you.

Wrong answer! 8 glasses of water a day is a MUST!

You have already learned in school, what your daily intake should be. If you want to lose wait, eat your food as nature provided it.

Nature did not put your food in bottles, boxes or cans!

Fresh fruits, and dark green vegetables. Cut your calories to 1,100 per day and you WILL go right down to the bone.

It can not get on your body if you do not put it in your mouth.

If you want to lose weight, just SHUT your mouth!

Fasting may cleanse the body but there is no proof or guarantee that it strenghthens immunity. Don't subject yourself to a rigid type of fasting straightaway, like not eating or drinking anything for the whole day. You could go into sudden dehydration which could lead to serious medical problems. It is extremely difficult and you may not achieve the desired results. The best way is start gradually, say once a week with plain water, light fruit juice or just fresh fruits. When you are comfortable, you can increase this to may be two or three times a week. You must remember that eating balanced meals, regular exercise and learning to control stress are things that will definitely improve your health. Fasting alone will not do the job.

Please visit your doctor before you start any kind of fasting first.
Fasting can do alot to help you, but it is not recommended that you 'dry' fast unless you are instructed by a doctor to do so. It is important to know how to fast; how to time your fast; how to break your fast.
You may do better to fast, drinking fruit and vegetable juices instead of nothing or water and do it for only a day or so. Once your body adjusts to being able to fast, you could go longer. Remember that you are only doing this for short periods and you shouldn't get in the habit of fasting all the time.
Here is a site with tons of info:

take it slowly one step at a time. start from half day fasting. like say from dawn to afternoon. then if u can hold urself against food and water, try fasting from dawn to dusk.

but when u break(as in to eat) ur fast, pls dun go n gobble up food like there is no tomorrow. that will totally defeats the purpose of fasting.
