silver_saire asked: I’m really interested in the concept of fasting to cleanse your body. Apparently, it can be extremely healthy if done in the right way. You let your body take care of itself and it’ll be able to flush dead tissue/cells out and kind of purge impurities out.
However, my mother isn’t too thrilled with the idea. I’ve definitely done the research on it, and really want to try a short, 5-day fast. How can I make it a little subtler that I’m fasting? Are there any good ways to hide the fact that I’m only drinking juices and water?
Thanks in advance! =)
Wow – I was just reading some of the first replies… thanks for all of your input. I guess I was assuming too much after I visited a few sites that supported fasting. Here’s one that gives a good summarization of fasting, with doctors backing some of the details up. So… I shouldn’t trust this source, as well as the six or seven other pages I visited?

I think I might try what pierson1952 suggested instead, thanks!
Oh yes – also, I have no intention of doing this to try and lose weight. In fact, I think fasting generally causes you to gain a little more weight from what you started with. So those of you with concerns about this turning into an eating disorder, don’t worry. =)
Here’s an excerpt from a site:
During a fast, a metamorphosis occurs. The body undergoes a tearing down and rebuilding of damaged materials. For this reason, fasting is famous for its ability to rejuvenate and give the body a more youthful tone. Why does fasting have such a powerful effect in healing the body? Fasting dissolves diseased cells in a systematic manner, leaving healthy tissue. The result is a thorough cleansing of the tube, membrane and cellular structures. There is a remarkable redistribution of nutrients in the fasting body. It hangs on to precious minerals and vitamins while catabolizing on old tissue, toxins and inferior materials.
